    2019 New Year's Resolution

Engage others to ensure your marketing goals are implemented.

Happy New Year! I wish you and your family health, happiness, and strong, long-lasting relationships. And, of course, much prosperity for your business this year.

To paraphrase vocalist Diana Ross, You can’t just sit there and wait for more business to reach your goals. You’ve got to get out there and make it happen for yourself.

Some business owners want it to happen; some wish it would happen, while the most successful owners make it happen. What is your business style? What are your goals for this year?

Research and experts agree that the best way to achieve your goals is to write them down (or key-in). You can tell I’m still of the ‘old school’ as I prefer to hand-write them!

    TIP 1: SMART Goal Setting

SMART is a mnemonic learning technique that aids information retention which in this case helps you remember the five elements required to reach each goal.

S: Specific – What is the desired outcome? Your goal must be clear and unambiguous.

M: Measured – What is your concrete criteria to track and measure your progress?

A: Achievable – Can you actually attain it?

R: Realistic – Is it results-based and oriented?

T: Time-bound – What are your target dates to determine progress and achieve the goal?

Now that you have your goals documented, what is your action plan to make each one a reality?

    TIP 2: Delegate

As a small business owner or entrepreneur you are busy running your business and like me, have many items on your to-do list. You know that delegation simplifies your life. You delegate your bookkeeping to an accountant, why not engage a marketer to drive more sales leads and implement your wish list (SMART goals) to generate more profits.

Could be you need to refresh your website or re-write your content so that it is focused on customer needs which I outlined in a previous blog. Remember it’s not all about you – customers buy based on needs and wants!

Perhaps you need a marketing strategy or marketing plan. Maybe you want a second opinion on your existing marketing collateral or ideas for a new campaign to drive more sales leads.
